Five schools, one catering contract
How five South Gloucestershire primary schools bought catering together through ESPO and realised £39,301 in income from one joint contract.
Five schools, one catering contract
The challenge
Wheatfield, Christ Church Hanham, St Barnabas, Barrs Court and Raysfield wanted to buy catering together, but needed help gathering data, agreeing requirements school by school and writing compliant tender documents.
What we did
- Identified ESPO as the best route to market
- Agreed requirements with each school and with the group
- Published the tender, ran clarifications and site visits
- Led the evaluation, arranged presentations and drafted terms for legal review
Results
£39,301
income realised, shared by pupil numbers
5 → 1
schools on one joint contract
“I have to say that the paperwork and analysis of the bids that we received was amazing.”Denise Hickson, School Business Manager, Wheatfield Primary School
The outcome
Buying together gave the five schools far more purchasing power than any of them had alone, and attracted more bidders than a single small school would usually see. The schools unanimously accepted our evaluation and recommended provider, and every school made a saving as well as sharing the income.
